Adventure Show

We started by making our way through the endless rows of stands and displays, taking in everything from recovery gear and suspension setups through to fully built touring rigs and camping solutions. The major 4x4 industry players were all there, and it was the perfect chance to see firsthand what’s new, what’s improved, and what’s coming next in the world of off-road touring.

A big part of the day for me was speaking directly with suppliers and brands about potential gear to review and feature on my YouTube channel, 4 Wheeling in NSW. These conversations are always valuable — not just for content ideas, but for understanding the thinking behind the products we all end up relying on out in the bush. It’s that direct connection between creator, manufacturer, and end user that really brings the industry to life.

One of the standout moments of the show was lining up for the infamous 45-degree incline demonstration in the Isuzu Isuzu MU-X and Isuzu D-Max. Watching these vehicles claw their way up such a steep, controlled slope was impressive enough — but being in the passenger seat made it something else entirely. It’s the kind of demo that really shows what modern 4WD systems are capable of when traction, engineering, and driver control all come together.

Throughout the day, we also had the chance to cross paths with some of the most recognisable names in the Australian off-road community. Running into Roothy, chatting with Luke from Drifta, and meeting Pat Callinan was a real highlight. These are people who have genuinely helped shape the 4WD culture in Australia, and seeing them in their element at an event like this adds a whole extra layer to the experience.

What made the day even better was sharing it with Chloe. Between the big displays, the engine noise, the crowds, and the constant buzz of activity, it wasn’t just a show — it was a snapshot of a community we’re proud to be part of. It reminded me that 4WDing isn’t only about the tracks we drive, but also about the people, stories, and shared experiences that come with it.

By the end of the day, we left tired but buzzing, full of ideas, inspiration, and a deeper appreciation for how far the industry has come. The Eastern Creek 4x4 Adventure Show wasn’t just an event — it was a reminder of why we do what we do, and why we’ll keep chasing the next track, the next build, and the next adventure.

What a great day out we had at Eastern Creek Raceway...

The 2017 Eastern Creek 4x4 Adventure Show was one of those days that sticks with you long after the dust settles. I took my daughter Chloe along for the ride, and from the moment we walked through the gates it was full immersion into everything that makes the Australian

4WD scene what it is — loud, passionate, innovative, and built around a genuine love for getting off the beaten track.
